The Book of Praise.
Our old companions in distress
We haste again to see, And eager long for our release
And full felicity: Even now by faith we join our hands
With those that went before, And greet the blood-besprinkled bands
On the eternal shore.
Our spirits too shall quickly join,
Like theirs with glory crown'd, And shout to see our Captain's sign,
To hear His trumpet sound. Oh ! that we now might grasp our Guide !
Oh ! that the word were given ! Come, Lord of hosts ! the waves divide,
And land us all in Heaven !
Charles Wesley. 1759.
CXLI.
Hosanna to the Living Lord ! Hosanna to the Incarnate Word ! To Christ, Creator, Saviour, King, Let earth, let Heaven, Hosanna sing.
Hosanna! Lord ! Hosanna in the highest!
" Hosanna," Lord, Thine angels cry ; u Hosanna," Lord, Thy saints reply : Above, beneath us, and around, The dead and living swell the sound.
Hosanna ! Lord ! Hosanna in the highest!
O Saviour, with protecting care Return to this Thy house of prayer, Assembled in Thy sacred Name, Where we Thy parting promise claim.
Hosanna ! Lord ! Hosanna in the highest!
